Bow down

Bowing Down In Worship           Psalm 95:6-7a

Psalm 95:6

O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our maker.

This verse doesn’t refer to just a physical posture but an inward act of submission to God. There are three important verbs in verse six: worship, bow down, and kneel. To worship God submissively means more than just bowing down. It means obeying the command in James 4:7?

James 4:7
7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Every time we come to worship we must resist the Devil because he is working overtime in our minds and hearts to keep us from truly worshipping God. Therefore, to submit to God in worship, we must at the same time resist the Devil.

We should worship God submissively because

Psalm 95:7a

He is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand.

This verse reminds me of the words of Jesus in John 10:11?

John 10:11
11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
